Creating  Habits

Learning ‘how’ to be an Active Manager is one thing. Being an Active Manager is something entirely different.

Many people consider that it takes 21 days to create a habit. Again, creating and sustaining are not the same thing. Aristotle said “we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit”. Scientists have now found that it can take up to 12 weeks to create sustainable, long lasting habits.

The reason behind this is simple. It takes time to see the positive effects of a new habit. Just think about going to the gym; 3 weeks (21 days) would create a small impact, but in 12 weeks? The benefits would be there for everyone to see – and most importantly, for you to not only see, but feel! And when we feel the impact of a new habit, that’s the moment we choose to sustain it. It doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through choice. Your choice.

But going to the gym can be tough. You need a lot of motivation, a clear goal and most importantly someone to help maintain momentum. That could be a friend or family member, but even better might be a personal Coach. Someone who not only cheers you on from the side-lines but runs along beside you, showing you the best routes, the quickest gains and helping you to achieve results which are going to last.

Being an Active Manager with the help of your Coach takes initial effort and long term focus but the pay-off is worth it. A highly motivated team, sustained performance, an ability to not only weather but pre-empt the highs and the lows, and a sense of effective control over yourself and your business.

Over the course of your journey you will be introduced to a number of tools, techniques and behaviours. To find out more, take a look through this section and of course your Coach will always be happy to help if you need any further information or support.
